Welcome to KidConfetti!
Dear friends,
We are thrilled that you have discovered us and shown an interest in learning about life with special needs children. Allow us to introduce ourselves – we are the Szalay family, and we have embarked on an extraordinary journey that has forever changed our lives.
In 2008, our son Stony came into this world, and with his arrival came a unique set of challenges. Stony was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome and autism, a rare combination that presented us with numerous obstacles. Alongside these conditions, Stony also experiences speech and processing disorders, cognitive and behavioral disorders, OCD, anxiety, as well as several mobility issues including scoliosis and generalized hypotonia.
But amidst these trials, we have discovered a profound shift in our perspective. We now view our circumstances as an opportunity to serve and give, turning every task into a precious gift. Stony’s strength and resilience continue to inspire us, propelling us forward even in the face of adversity.
In this journey, we are immensely grateful for our daughter Suzanna, who has been an invaluable pillar of support for our family. Suzanna possesses an extensive understanding of Stony’s disabilities, making her an indispensable source of guidance. Her wise and sensible opinions and advice have helped us navigate the challenges we encounter. Her presence brings a wealth of insights and perspectives to our family dynamic, and we treasure her deeply.
Through KidConfetti, our mission is to share this newfound positivity and celebrate the extraordinary children within the special needs community. We strive to raise awareness and extend support to other families facing similar circumstances. On our platform, you will find stories of triumph, resources for education and therapy, and a welcoming community where everyone is valued and understood.
We invite you to join us on this incredible journey, as we navigate the complexities and experience the joys of raising a child with multiple disabilities. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive world.
With love and warm regards,
The Szalay Family – Suzanne, Zsolt, Stony, and Suzanna.
